Christian Essentials

Your opportunity to grapple with the important questions in life

We believe that every person needs to come to their own conviction concerning the Christian faith; and that, to do this, the facts need to be set out clearly and to be fully explained. The Christian Essentials course we run is just such an opportunity to discuss the essential truths about Christianity, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

The course itself is a short set of six studies. We study the Bible, so that participants can see and read for themselves what God has revealed about Himself and about man. Our Pastor, Bruce Jenkins, leads the discussions and draws out the truths about the historical figure of Jesus Christ. He introduces the subject of Christ’s death and resurrection as the basis of salvation – and what it means to become a Christian.   You can request more information on how to join in on a course by emailing us at info@cec.uk.net.

These are some of the frequently asked questions about the course:

When does it happen? We are flexible and organise it to suit participants, but it is normally a weekday evening for about 1˝ hours.

Where do I go? We meet in a church member’s home to ensure an informal atmosphere.

Why do we run it? We want to share the truth and relevance about Jesus Christ with you.

How long does the course last? We run six sessions, usually on a weekly basis.

How much does it cost? Nothing, other than a bit of your time. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided at each session.

Do I have to bring anything? No. We will give you a Bible if you don’t have one.

Is it churchy? No. There is no singing, praying or clapping.

Can I pull out? Yes, at any time. Just let us know that you won’t be coming again.

Can I disagree? You can ask as many questions as you like – and constructive discussion is great.

Am I going to get preached at? No, each evening is designed around questions and topics for discussion.

Do I have to speak in the group? No. We’re not going to ask you for your opinions if you don’t want to share them – and you don’t have to ask questions if you would prefer to just listen.

How do I join in? Email us and we'll be pleased to hear from you
